Anyone Can Become a Millionaire by Following a Few Simple Steps

Becoming a millionaire isn’t all that difficult and there are countless ways to achieve that milestone. Some people do it through real estate, others start their own business, while some simply get lucky by winning the lottery or winning big on a game show. What is even more interesting is that you don’t have to be wealthy to begin with nor do you have to earn six figures to reach this goal.

I know some people who earn well over $100,000 and all they have to show for it is a large mortgage payment and a fancy car that depreciates faster than a glass of milk left outside in the summer sun. Anyone can become a millionaire and there are five things you need to do to have the best shot of making that a reality.

1. Earn Income.

Clearly, the more money you make, the faster you can reach that milestone, but that doesn’t mean your average Joe with a average income can’t obtain millionaire status. The current median income in this country ranges between $35,000-$60,000 depending on where you live. Better yet, get married so you have dual incomes. The wonderful thing about having dual incomes is that even with two people in the household, your income may double, but your expenses typically don’t.

If you don’t earn even an average income, all is not lost. It is up to you to do something about it. A negative attitude about your job or your earning potential won’t change anything. Be proactive and make the decision to improve your situation. It is your life, so take control and realize that things don’t change overnight. It may take a few years of slow growth before you reach the point where you want to be, but you can do it if you try. Remember, short of inheriting money from a relative or winning the lottery, you will need reasonable income to become a millionaire.

2. Live Within Your Means.

Ok, so you have income but now what? It doesn’t matter how much money you make if you spend it all or spend even more than you make. It might be nice to eat out at nice restaurants every night, or to always be on the cutting edge of designer fashion but, this will only make you look like millionaire to others instead of actually being a millionaire. This doesn’t mean you have to live a miserable and miserly lifestyle, but you simply need to live reasonably. The bottom line is buying things and acting like a millionaire if you aren’t will simply empty your bank account and give people a false impression of your status, but that’s it.

Start by purchasing a home that you can comfortably afford and drive vehicles that suit your lifestyle without straining your budget. You don’t have to be pulling down $75,000 a year and drive a 1992 Civic Hatchback or live in a dump, but throwing your money at a 4,000 square foot home in a gated community with luxury cars or SUVs that cost as much as one year of your salary won’t help you become a millionaire. Some may argue that an expensive home and real estate in general is a good way to become a millionaire, but I will touch on that later.

3. Save Money.

This isn’t rocket science but if you earn a reasonable income and you live within your means, guess what, you will probably have money left over to save. But that’s exactly the problem. Most people treat savings as an afterthought, or something that only gets attended to after all the other bills are paid. People pay bills, buy things, and then whatever is leftover they try to save. That is the wrong way to save. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but pay yourself first. Whether it is $100 a month or $1,000 a month, think of the savings as a bill that needs to be paid and do it regularly. If you are unable to save money you will find that your only wealth is in the form of material things. So, you need to start saving every month and you need to make it happen automatically. An online savings account can accomplish this for you, and on top of that you’ll be earning better interest on that money than you would be at your local bank. Start saving today with a high-yield savings account.

4. Invest Wisely.

Now that you are saving money, you need to invest it wisely. Sticking it under the mattress or slowly building up in a savings account isn’t going to help you reach your goals any faster. You don’t have to read the Wall Street Journal or watch CNBC everyday while actively managing your portfolio in order to be a good investor. Some of the best investment advice is to simply invest regularly and in a diversified portfolio. If you do this you’ll already be doing more than most people and on your way to building wealth.

It is also important to remember that real estate is part of your investment picture, but it shouldn’t be all of it. Too many people stake almost everything they have into a primary residence and expect it to appreciate in value. Just like any investment, generally speaking, over time you will make money. There isn’t much debate about that, but relying heavily on real estate is no different than if you rely on one stock to fund your retirement. 5. Stick With Your Plan.

Finally, if you have done the previous four items the only thing left to do is to continue doing it and stick to the plan. As far as income is concerned, always be on the lookout for ways to increase your income, whether it is through climbing the ladder at your current job, finding work elsewhere, or maybe even starting a business on the side. Increased income will mean you can save even more, provided you aren’t foolishly spending the additional money. As that additional money gets tucked away into savings or investments it will continue to grow even more quickly.

Unfortunately, most people are looking for a way to get rich quick or to capitalize on the next big thing. It is true that some people have made their wealth through playing the real estate market, while others have done so by investing in a few stocks that exploded, but this is the exception and not the norm. If the above list seems overly simplistic, that’s good. There are no secrets to becoming a millionaire and almost anyone has the chance to make it happen. The process is simple:

PPC,  which stands for Pay Per Click is making a lot of people very very rich.   The surprising thing is that very few of the top earners have much in the way of a computer background.   I have taught a lot of people how do PPC and the ones that have the most success are the ones with the most patience and drive.

Here is how it works, when you do a search on google the right hand side contains paid listings.  If you search for the term "online dating" all the ads you see on the right hand side are from people bidding on the term online dating.

How do these people make money?   Well there are many affiliate networks out there that will pay you to promote products and services.  My favorite networks  are ones that pay per action, ie someone just has to give their email address or phone number. This lead pays out $5.10 for anyone that fills out the form.   This singles Cell phone offer  is a offshoot of a ring tone offer,  you get paid $12.00 for every person that enters their cell phone number.

 Here is a sample of a google Ad which you place by signing up here www.google.com/adwords,  you pick a list of search terms you want this ad to display for and the max price you want to bid.  You then direct traffic to a link  provided by an affiliate network.

The max  you can make by yourself doing  PPC ads  is around $100,000/month  this is the point  where you replace ads as fast as you can create them.    There are many hot offers like ring tones  that only work for 6 months or so before they are replaced.  Also competition may drive up prices and its no longer profitable for you to bid on those terms.

If you have your own website  affiliate networks are great.   If don't have many users (under 30,000 uniques/day) and they are all focused on your subject area a good rule of thumb is you can make $2.00 off affiliate ads  for every dollar you make off adsense.

   You can still keep ahead with PPC, the problem is a lot of these networks sell your data or lists of affiliates promoting what offers. You have to go through a lot of effort to clean your links and make sure that they can’t pick up the referal string. You can do this by redirecting through a bunch of different domains using temp and perm redirects.
   I strongly suspect some of these networks are building big databases of Keywords that affiliates use to promote via PPC, after a few weeks time they set up their own affiliate site and then outbid all the affiliates for terms. But for the most part unless your making close to a grand a day off a program its not something you have to worry to much about. If you are making that much you can always go direct to merchant and get up to double the payout, that way even if everyone jumps in you can still make a lot more money then they can.

   Certainly, I would congratulate you on your successes. However, nearly all of the sites you have listed in your article are generally seen as sites that are out to mislead customers, get them signed up in programs by burying prices and conditions in the fine print, or simply spam them to death.
   For instance, siteadvisor.com has this to say about primaryads:
   “When we tested this site we found links to consumerincentivepromotions.com, which our tests found to be a high volume or spammy e-mailer.”
   (http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/primaryads.com?aff_id=0)
   Consumerincentivepromotions spams new signups with 78 emails per week according to siteadvisor. That’s insane! But that’s not even the worst … promotionsgateway.com, also linked to primary ads, reportedly sent ***491*** spam emails to the test signup email that SiteAdvisor used, in a single week!!! Most every site connected to primaryads seems to spam their users in excess of 100 messages per week. How do you feel with your $5 signup, knowing that you just destroyed someone’s email?
   The “ringtone/chat” offer? Blinko.com? Check these comments out from siteadvisor.com:
   “My friend tried to get a free ringtone from this website, and he was forced to put in his credit card number. Now he has to pay for a 2 month subscription that he never wanted. BEWARE: If you want free ringtones, look somewhere else”
   and
   “I will be contacting the Federal Trade Commission (ftc.gov), Better Business Bureau (bbb.org) and my state’s attorney general (naag.org). I urge others with the same situation to do the same.”
   and
   “When we visited this site we found one or more misleading ringtone offers. For example, we found an offer where a user was promised a ‘free’ ringtone — but accepting that offer would automatically enroll the user in a monthly subscription.” (from SiteAdvisor staff themselves)
   So while this all may sound fascinating and simple to your readers here – they should be aware of what they are getting themselves into.
   Azoogle Ads actually seems quite clean according to siteadvisor’s analysis – so I’ll definitely check that one out, thanks. And I’ll look into the eBay items as well.

   Primaryads, cj.com azoogleads.com etc all have the same offers and the same advertisers. What you are referring to is zipcode/email offers and they are all on affiliate networks. They are usually promoted via email.

   I tried to apply for the ebay.com Affiliate program. Right upfront, I had declared in my address that I am based out of India. After filling out several online forms, including from their agent Commission Junction, including some paper forms that I had to fax to the USA, I find that they have declined my application, without giving any reason. Then, when I read the eBay Affiliate Program FAQ, I found under “Eligibility” section that they accept applications only from USA-based affiliates. If that is the case, why did they bother to make me go through the whole procedure and waste my time and theirs?

   Maybe it is insane, maybe it isn’t. It depends on whether it is profitable. One thing it is NOT, however, is spam. If you sign up and give them permission to email you, it is NOT SPAM, no matter how many times they email you.

    Setting up an affiliate site sounds easy and in fact can be however the key to making any money off it is to drive traffic to your website. This is NOT an easy task and if you think as a start up you can do this by paying Google adwords think again. Often the amount you pay Google far outweighs the money you make off the affiliates.
    If you have deep pockets and are willing to spend thousands of dollars, and I do mean THOUSANDS, then go for it.

    As a user of Adsense since the beginning, and a administrator of a very high traffic site that uses it, I can honestly say all the get rich claims and ads you’re seeing are complete and utter garbage/spam/solicitation/deceit.
    I’ve used both PPC and PPI over the years on sites with higher hit rates than any of these people have access to; with the best SEO there is, and a big hitter is lucky to get $1,200 off PPI a month, and $500 off PPC.
    These claims are spams wanting to sale the old ‘secret to success’ manual. a site with around a thousand hits a month is lucky to get $50 in a month off PPI and even less off PPC.
    Even a botnet is lucky to make $20k in a month..
    !!Once again these claims are all misleading solicitations!!
